A Promise is A Promise is A Promise

Has anyone ever made a promise to you? A promise that someone guaranteed they would do but never fulfilled it? It hurts when what you expected from that person never actually happened. And it gets even worse when more promises are being made but are never seen through. You loose trust in that person and their words become meaningless. What a disappointment to say that someone's word is totally meaningless. That your words have absolutely no value and are full of empty promises. What a feeling of disappointment and hopelessness to have - not being able to trust the words of someone. But do we share this same attitude with God, who is our Heavenly Father?

The Bible says that, "for all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us." 1 Corinthians 1:20. Isaiah 55:11 says, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall prosper [in the thing] where I sent it." What powerful reminders of how God always keeps his promises. He said in Jeremiah 1:1, "I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled." What great reminders of the reliability of God. He is so careful about his word, that we can truly trust what He says. And have faith that what He says will come to pass.

Every promise mentioned in the Bible is for us today. We can claim His word for our healing and deliverance today. Troubles will come, and he warns us that it rains on the just, but unlike those who have no hope - we have hope. I know that the wait can be overwhelming, and it seems that God has forgotten you. Just remember what Psalm 27:13 says, "I had fainted, unless I had belived to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strenghten thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord."

Trusting in Him,
